JSW Infrastructure will invest Rs 152 crore for the expansion of its container capacity at New Mangalore Port Trust. The Sajjan Jindal-owned company’s first container terminal at New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) in Karnataka which was commissioned in June 2022, has a cargo capacity of 2.4 lakh twenty equipment units (TEU)
JSW Infrastructure filed the Draft Red Herring Prospectus (DRHP) with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to raise up to Rs 2,800 crore through an initial public offering (IPO). Of this, Rs 152 crore will be spent on container capacity enhancement to four lakh TEUs, as part of the plan
The modernisation works will be carrired out by JSW Infrastructure's subsidiary JSW Mangalore Container Terminal (MTPL). It has a backup area of 65,000 sq. mtrs. for the storage of containers. In terms of equipment, the infrastructure comprises six reach stackers, an empty container handler and two mobile harbour cranes
As per Crisil report FY24, container traffic is expected to grow in the range of five to eight percent over FY 2023-2028. Non-major ports will contribute in the range of 100 to 130 million tonne of capacity between FY23 and FY27
